Smart Telecom is the first CDMA mobile telecommunication company which providing mobile broadband service to their subscriber with CDMA EVDO Rev A. Few years later, Smart Telecom launched CDMA EVDO Rev B which can get download speed up to 9.3 Mbps and 5.6 Mbps for download. Smart Telecom is the first CDMA mobile broadband provider which provides CDMA EVDO Rev B in the Asia Pacific. The next CDMA mobile telecommunication company which launches mobile broadband service is Bakrie Connectivity as the Bakrie Telecom subsidiary. Bakrie Connectivity launches mobile broadband service using CDMA EVDO Rev A platform. By implementing CDMA EVDO Rev A, mobile broadband subscriber can get download speed up to 3.1 Mbps. Mobile broadband products from Bakrie Connectivity called AHA (Affordable Hyper-speed Access).

Beside two mobile broadband providers with CDMA platform, there are more broadband providers with GSM platform which already launched earlier such as Telkomsel, Indosat and XL. The launched of both CDMA mobile broadband providers is interested since giving more option to the mobile broadband subscribers while they choose internet connection through wireless network. More broadband providers available in Indonesia more competitive the tariff and the result, mobile broadband providers will provide the best and affordable service other wise their subscriber will leave and migrate to your competitors

Smart Telecom understands well about this competition. That is why Smart Telecom provides CDMA EVDO Rev B to their subscriber to provide high speed and affordable internet access. Bakrie Telecom also the same, previously they only provide CDMA 1x to their subscriber which has limited speed access. Through Bakrie Connectivity, Bakrie Telecom commit to provide high speed internet access to their subscriber with AHA service

Telecommunication Company should have a strategy how they will implement many kind telecommunication ideas and innovation indeed such as mobile internet service (CDMA1x, GPRS, 3G, EVDO) to their customers. The things that they have much concern during deploy such services are international bandwidth capacity, Radio Frequency (RF) occupancy and the backbone utilization to connect the entire of region which has this service. Telecommunication Company will plan to deploy the network infrastructures and make sure that they have enough resource to cover current subscribers and still capable to handle to high traffic while their subscribers growing fast. Telecommunication Company can say that they have a good performance of mobile internet service while those resources above (bandwidth, RF and backbone) are always available to handle many innovation of telecommunication services
Survey to subscribers used to be done by Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Call Centre (CC) department. They are responsible to maintain the subscribers and providing answers to any question and complaint coming from subscribers. Survey to subscribers need to be done periodically to identify if the service and product they have been launched to their subscribers are still response well or not. by Customer Relationship Management) CRM) or Call Centre (CC) team can collect much information from them. The information they can collect to identify the mobile internet service are;

1. How fast mobile internet service they can get during access to internet
2. if the tariff is too expensive or fair
3. if they often experience network problem that influence their activity to access to internet
4. How many time per day they spent to surf using mobile internet service
5. if they experience difficulty while they want to call the customer care to resolve a problem on their mobile internet service
6. are the service important to them or not
7. how much the service supporting their activity
8. And the last question, are they satisfied enough with the current service?

And to complete the survey lists, we can ask the subscriber to suggest anything to the Telecommunication Company to improve telecommunication services

Two things that need to be anticipated by telecommunication companies while they provided mobile broadband internet services to their subscribers are, there will be high demand to this service and high capacity requirement of international internet bandwidth. To anticipate two issues above, telecommunication companies need to do more expensive efforts they are adding more BTS at many areas and upgrade the international bandwidth capacity. As you know broadband service require high capacity bandwidth so then subscribers will feel comfortable while browse to youtube, downloading huge files and accessing email with smoothly at the same time.

Unfortunately, telecommunication companies prefer to choose another way to cover high demand and bandwidth requirement above as the first option. As the result, subscriber will face unstable internet connection for long time and finally some of them decide to migrate to internet service provider with provide dedicated connection. The reason why a telecommunication company is it is too expensive to deploy new telecommunication infrastructures to fulfill mobile broadband internet service requirement. More over, their competitors are doing the same service at the same market. They will think many times to do expensive efforts above.

With dedicated connection provided network provider, subscriber will be guarantee to have high speed Internet according to the packages they have chosen and will no more experience unstable connection which always happen to mobile broadband internet service.

Mobile broadband internet service was introduced to give different experience to subscriber while they browse to the internet. Unfortunately they used to face unstable connection after about 3-4 months since the first launched due to two issues above. The way to resolve the issue is depending on the telecommunication company itself. Unfortunately, they prefer to resolve the issue on the mobile broadband internet service with alternative option rather than upgrade the capacity. And as the result, more subscriber migrate to another telecommunication companies or internet provider

There are some reasons why telecommunication companies in Indonesia campaign cheap tariff to any telecommunication services they offered to the mobile telecommunication subscribers.

There are some reasons why telecommunication companies in Indonesia campaign cheap tariff to any telecommunication services they offered to the mobile telecommunication subscribers. Telecommunication companies used to applied cheap tariff to the prepaid phone number instead of postpaid phone number. The first reason, there are some new telecommunication companies which offered cheap tariff while they promote their new product and service. The second poor innovation of telecommunication services and as the result some of telecommunication companies rely on cheap tariff while mobile telecommunication subscribers made a session on basic telecommunication services either call, SMS or accessing internet through broadband internet service or CDMA 1x 2000

Once new telecommunication companies in Indonesia launched and offered cheap tariff to the call, SMS and wireless internet than the existing telecommunication companies will do the same few days later. Actually it is legal to offer cheap tariff to achieve as many as mobile telecommunication subscribers but telecommunication companies should give high performance of telecommunication service other wise the new mobile telecommunication companies will leave them and migrate to another telecommunication companies once their balance on prepaid phone number is zero due to they disappoint with the quality of telecommunication network.

Telecommunication companies should consider two things while they plan to promote cheap tariff to their new or existing telecommunication product and service. The first thing, the cost they should pay to lease several frequency channels for their license to the government as the telecommunication regulator.

As you know that telecommunication companies with GSM or CDMA platforms and mobile wireless access license should pay the frequency they have been leased more expensive than telecommunication with GSM or CDMA platforms and fixed wireless access license. Telecommunication regulator (government) is also giving lowest level tariff they should charge to their mobile telecommunication subscriber. Telecommunication companies with mobile wireless access license has higher tariff rather than fixed wireless access license. The second is the cost they have spent to invest the telecommunication infrastructures. Telecommunication companies should consider the investment they already spent while they plan to give cheap tariff to their mobile telecommunication subscribers. Telecommunication companies which has Manage Service (MS) with the vendor should be no issue while they plan to campaign cheap tariff strategy but not for telecommunication companies who already spend much money to invest the telecommunication infrastructures.
