Rumor said that a QWERTY-equipped high end droid from HTC, will be headed to Verizon. Android Swag predicts that this Droid phone will have dual band technology, CDMA and GSM radio. While you are in US you can use this Droid with CDMA radio as the Verizon network platform and GSM platform when you are leaving US. The specification of Verizon’s QWERTY-enable Droid by HTC is 4-inch display with Super LCD, sliding QWERTY keyboard and 1,2 GHz processor with dual core SnapDragon. Android Swag will have Android 2.2 version and perhaps will be equipped with LTE radio to take advantage of Verizon’s new high-speed mobile data network

Verizon launches its LTE network up to 30 markets in 2010 which covering 100 million people. Verizon will offer a solid 10 MHz of dedicated LTE spectrum across the country, which will have more bandwidth rather than MetroPCS. Meanwhile HTC is one of manufactures which already launched several Android phones to the market such as HTC Aria, HTC Wildfire and HTC EVO 4G

QWERTY phone become the popular keyboard on smartphone such as iPhone, Android and BlackBerry. We can find in many market that the latest version of those smartphone either iPhone, Android and BlackBerry will have a sliding QWERTY keyboard. On the Android market we will find sliding QWERTY keyboard on Samsung captivate, Samsung Vibrant, HTC Aria, HTC wildfire, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and many more. Many Android users have cried out for a high-end device with a QWERTY keyboard that can match the layout and quality that many enjoyed on the first Android handset ever. While this isn’t the same five-row layout we loved on the G1, it’s very close and it has that same spacious look to it.

Smart Telecom is the first CDMA mobile telecommunication company which providing mobile broadband service to their subscriber with CDMA EVDO Rev A. Few years later, Smart Telecom launched CDMA EVDO Rev B which can get download speed up to 9.3 Mbps and 5.6 Mbps for download. Smart Telecom is the first CDMA mobile broadband provider which provides CDMA EVDO Rev B in the Asia Pacific. The next CDMA mobile telecommunication company which launches mobile broadband service is Bakrie Connectivity as the Bakrie Telecom subsidiary. Bakrie Connectivity launches mobile broadband service using CDMA EVDO Rev A platform. By implementing CDMA EVDO Rev A, mobile broadband subscriber can get download speed up to 3.1 Mbps. Mobile broadband products from Bakrie Connectivity called AHA (Affordable Hyper-speed Access).

Beside two mobile broadband providers with CDMA platform, there are more broadband providers with GSM platform which already launched earlier such as Telkomsel, Indosat and XL. The launched of both CDMA mobile broadband providers is interested since giving more option to the mobile broadband subscribers while they choose internet connection through wireless network. More broadband providers available in Indonesia more competitive the tariff and the result, mobile broadband providers will provide the best and affordable service other wise their subscriber will leave and migrate to your competitors

Smart Telecom understands well about this competition. That is why Smart Telecom provides CDMA EVDO Rev B to their subscriber to provide high speed and affordable internet access. Bakrie Telecom also the same, previously they only provide CDMA 1x to their subscriber which has limited speed access. Through Bakrie Connectivity, Bakrie Telecom commit to provide high speed internet access to their subscriber with AHA service

To strengthen to business position in the market, telecommunication companies should do many efforts such as innovation and idea of telecommunication service, expanding to rural areas and increasing business capital especially from new investor either local or foreign investor. However if there are many telecommunication companies in the country, let say 10 telecommunication companies, then new idea should be declared to have more effective and efficiency telecommunication business. Merger is one of ideas that could be considered to create the new telecommunication business which more competitive and strategies

Merger on telecommunication business could be done as long as two or more telecommunication companies have a same business strategy and to strengthen each other. Two or more telecommunication companies who plan to get merger should have the same vision on telecommunication business. And definitely they should have the same network platform such having the same network e.g. CDMA or GSM platforms.

The new idea while they are getting merger is to expand the telecommunication service which already they deployed to the market. For example a telecommunication company who has a fix wireless access license, the smart idea is while they merge with a telecommunication company with mobile wireless access license. A telecommunication company with CDMA platform, to strengthen business position in the market, would be more effective if they merge to the telecommunication company with the same network platform.

The next step while they have merged is creating new telecommunication service with more reliable and high performance. For example, if previously there are more than five telecommunication companies offered mobile broadband service which have low performance, now they can create new mobile broadband service with more valuable. It was they charged so expensive to make calls to different network due to high cost of network interconnection, now they can reduce it since fewer telecommunication companies run the business

Telecommunication companies should implement many ideas of telecommunication to win the competition. There are many ideas of telecommunication will be implemented by telecommunication companies while they have high demand on one or more telecommunication services. Upgrading the telecommunication technology to the latest one is actually the best solution but some of telecommunication companies will think many times to implements this idea since it takes much cost. Telecommunication companies with GSM platform can migrate to 3G network to have high speed internet access. CDMA platform also can migrate to EVDO platform to have the same service. However telecommunication companies need to spend much money to invest the infrastructures

Ideas of telecommunication which can be implemented by telecommunication companies to win the competition are innovation of features on the mobile phone which do not need much investment. BlackBerry service is actually the best innovation on mobile as it is integrated many application into single mobile phone such as email, chatting and browsing. Another idea which can be implemented is applying several applications on single mobile phone. This mobile phone is similar with BlackBerry service in term of application inside the mobile phone but the different platform. Telecommunication companies can integrate Value Added Service (VAS) with the technology such as BREW or JAVA platforms to generate high innovation of telecommunication on mobile phone.

Integrating BREW or JAVA platform and the Value Added Service (VAS) into single mobile phone with various applications have been implemented by several telecommunication companies in Indonesia such Bakrie Telecom with their new idea of telecommunication which called ESIA ONLINE. The same idea is also implemented by TELKOM. Through this idea of telecommunication which implemented on the single mobile phone, mobile telecommunication subscriber can access into several of telecommunication service such as email, chatting, browsing and facebook features

Value Added Service (VAS) is recently generating significant revenue for telecommunication companies which offering various VAS services. The best Value Added Service (VAS) is the service which integrated many services into single platform either on the single mobile phone or single application platform. The best Value Added Service (VAS) requires each of telecommunication companies to keep updating and enhanced the entire of telecommunication system and the telecommunication idea it self. Â To produce the best Value Added Service (VAS), telecommunication companies also should cooperate with many three parties to support either on the back end (telecommunication system/infrastructures) or management contents

There some best Value Added Service (VAS) that we can find right now in the market either on the GSM, CDMA or 3G platform. We can say that they are the best Value Added Service (VAS) since they responded well by many mobile telecommunication subscribers, high innovation, fresh idea and definitely generating significant revenue for the telecommunication companies.

BlackBerry service

BlackBerry service which introduced by Research In Motion (RIM) is basically push mail service. BlackBerry service is being popular due to its capability to push email from the mail server to the BlackBerry mobile phone anytime and anywhere. BlackBerry also can accommodate personal and corporate subscribers

Facebook service

Integrating Facebook service to the telecommunication service is actually a great idea. It is believed that it will increase significant mount of subscribers if telecommunication companies can integrate Facebook to the telecommunication services

Multi service on the single mobile phone

Integrating several Value Added Service (VAS) such as download content, chatting, email, subscription services on the single mobile phone is high innovation on telecommunication services.

The best Value Added Service (VAS) should have high flexibility to be customized either on the application platform or on the mobile phone if it requires changing.

Bundling mobile phone is giving many benefits to both telecommunication companies and mobile telecommunication subscribers. Telecommunication companies can protect their subscriber to be loyal and keep them always receive the new product and service through bundling mobile phone. Meanwhile mobile telecommunication subscriber can get one or more mobile phone with cheap price since telecommunication companies subsidize to the manufacture (vendor) while they create bundling mobile phone

Almost telecommunication companies in Indonesia is offering low end to high end bundling mobile phone to their subscribers. Bundling BlackBerry is the common package offered by telecommunication companies with GSM platform such as Telkomsel, XL and Indosat, also CDMA platform such Smart Telecom. However mobile telecommunication subscribers still need to spend much money to get BlackBerry package. As the result, they can offer BlackBerry package with limited amount and limited subscriber (middle to up class). Low end bundling mobile phone is offered also by several telecommunication companies and available on the market unfortunately they have poor feature. As the result, this low end mobile phone is utilized for basic communication (call and SMS service)

It is a challenge to provide low end mobile phone but high feature are available there such as featues that available on BlackBerry package e.g. Facebook, Instant Messaging (IM) and download content of Value Added Service (VAS). This idea has been started by Bakrie Telecom as one of the telecommunication company with CDMA license. Bakrie Telecom created many low and middle ends bundling mobile phone but high features available there. BREW technology is the main concept to create those low and middle ends bundling mobile phone. Bakrie Telecom cooperates with Huawei as the manufactures created several types of low and middle ends bundling mobile phone with high features. Those types are Huawei C28xx series, C51xx series. Meanwhile high features that available on this low and middle ends bundling mobile phone are Facebook service, download contents e.g. ring tone, image and game. The latest new innovation from Bakrie Telecom is low and middle ends bundling mobile phone to permit their subscriber to access high features indeed e.g. download favorite songs and sing a song after they download music track

There are some reasons why telecommunication companies in Indonesia campaign cheap tariff to any telecommunication services they offered to the mobile telecommunication subscribers. Telecommunication companies used to applied cheap tariff to the prepaid phone number instead of postpaid phone number. The first reason, there are some new telecommunication companies which offered cheap tariff while they promote their new product and service. The second poor innovation of telecommunication services and as the result some of telecommunication companies rely on cheap tariff while mobile telecommunication subscribers made a session on basic telecommunication services either call, SMS or accessing internet through broadband internet service or CDMA 1x 2000

Once new telecommunication companies in Indonesia launched and offered cheap tariff to the call, SMS and wireless internet than the existing telecommunication companies will do the same few days later. Actually it is legal to offer cheap tariff to achieve as many as mobile telecommunication subscribers but telecommunication companies should give high performance of telecommunication service other wise the new mobile telecommunication companies will leave them and migrate to another telecommunication companies once their balance on prepaid phone number is zero due to they disappoint with the quality of telecommunication network.

Telecommunication companies should consider two things while they plan to promote cheap tariff to their new or existing telecommunication product and service. The first thing, the cost they should pay to lease several frequency channels for their license to the government as the telecommunication regulator.

As you know that telecommunication companies with GSM or CDMA platforms and mobile wireless access license should pay the frequency they have been leased more expensive than telecommunication with GSM or CDMA platforms and fixed wireless access license. Telecommunication regulator (government) is also giving lowest level tariff they should charge to their mobile telecommunication subscriber. Telecommunication companies with mobile wireless access license has higher tariff rather than fixed wireless access license. The second is the cost they have spent to invest the telecommunication infrastructures. Telecommunication companies should consider the investment they already spent while they plan to give cheap tariff to their mobile telecommunication subscribers. Telecommunication companies which has Manage Service (MS) with the vendor should be no issue while they plan to campaign cheap tariff strategy but not for telecommunication companies who already spend much money to invest the telecommunication infrastructures.

I am sure each of us must set up Ring Back Tone (RBT) in our mobile phone either pop, classical, dance, rock or traditional song. Ring Back Tone (RBT) business is growing up dramatically since this service was introduced on GSM platform. The existence of Ring Back Tone (RBT) service is to replace old ring tone which there is no option while you call some one. Ring Back Tone (RBT) service is ring tone which you will hear when you call some one once he already activated the service. It is different with the old ring tone you used to heard, Ring Back Tone (RBT) service is coming with various ring tone which can be set up based on subscriber requirement

Ring Back Tone (RBT) business is high profit business to each parties involved to this business since with attractive service they can give, there will be millions subscribers will submit to this service. Ring Back Tone (RBT) business involves several parties such telecommunication companies, Music Label and Content Provider (CP). They have their own role to run Ring Back Tone (RBT) service. Telecommunication companies provide the telecommunication infrastructures and existing subscribers, Content Provider (CP) responsible to provide contents and application service which will be integrated to telecommunication system belong to telecommunication companies. Meanwhile Music Label is the owner and copy right of each songs will be played on mobile phone subscribers

Ring Back Tone (RBT) Business is giving higher profit to the telecommunication companies rather than others parties involve to this service (Music Label and Content Provider). This is why Ring Back Tone (RBT) service will be one of priority service for old telecommunication companies or new one. It can predict that almost 50% of their telecommunication subscriber will subscribe to the Ring Back Tone (RBT) service. Suppose Telecommunication Company has 10 millions mobile telecommunication subscribers. It means at least 5 millions will register to Ring Back Tone (RBT) service. For your information that a half of revenue per subscriber (50%) will belong to telecommunication company and the rest will be divided between Music Label and Content Provider. Suppose per song, Telecommunication Company will charge Rp 10.000 for one month subscription and if there are 10 millions mobile telecommunication subscribers register to to Ring Back Tone (RBT) service, you can imagine how much revenue they will achieve

That is why almost each of telecommunication companies will have to Ring Back Tone (RBT) service to enrich their telecommunication services

Few years ago, at the first introduction of telecommunication industry, Europe network platform dominated almost the entire of telecommunication companies in Indonesia. Telecommunication infrastructure is the key point while telecommunication companies plan to launch telecommunication services. Europe network platform is the first choice while telecommunication companies decide to deploy telecommunication infrastructures. The second option is USA network platform but it was only 1 –2 telecommunication companies which utilized USA network platform. Europe network platform such as Nokia, Siemens, Ericsson, Alcatel was installed at each of telecommunication companies with GSM platform such as Telkomsel, XL, and Indosat. The main reason is Europe network platform was established early even though it was very expensive

Global financial crises are giving new opportunity to Asian network platform such as Huawei, Samsung and NEC to play more roles and compete with Europe network platform. Cheaper investment is the main campaign they will introduce to each telecommunication companies. As the result we can find Huawei network platform dominate in Asia market including Indonesia right now. Huawei network platform is installed at almost telecommunication companies in Indonesia either partial or entire of telecommunication infrastructures

Telecommunication infrastructures which replaced by Huawei network platform are including the entire of core telecommunication system such as Mobile Switching Centre (MSC), Home Local Register (HLR, Base Station Controller (BSC), Base Transceiver Station (BTS), Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC), Intelligent Network (IN) and transmission system such as Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), radio microwave and optical fiber network. In fact, data communication infrastructures such as router and catalyst, they also provided and replace traditional platform which already established such as Cisco and Juniper. Huawei network platform is installed more rather others Asian network platform such as NEC, Samsung and ZTE. High appreciate to Huawei network platform which able to dominate in Indonesia market

Still on Huawei platform, Huawei is also starting to provide cheap mobile phone to the Indonesian market. To introduce mobile phone product, Huawei cooperate with telecommunication companies to provide bundling mobile phone and embedded with many features such as BREW platform. Bakrie Telecom and Huawei have implemented this cooperation to provide bundling mobile phone such as Huawei C260x series, Huawei C280x and Huawei C510x which embedded with BREW platform
